Curriculum I will be using with my daughter this year

I am finally getting around to writing up my daughter's curriculum for this year!

You can find my son's list here.

My daughter and I are super excited about what we are using this year.

For Bible/Worldview we are going to be using Who Is God by Apologia.

Who Is God?

I am using this with both of my kiddo's this year. I just ordered the coloring book that goes along with this for my son. I should be getting it any day now.

My daughter and I are doing a study together called Raising Maidens of Virtue.

We are doing this once a week.

This year is especially exciting for my daughter because she gets to use Teaching textbooks!

Her grandmother actually got this for her. She will be using the new Pre-Algebra 2.0 edition.

Pre-Algebra Teaching Textbook Pre-Algebra Answer Key

This new edition is awesome because the child gets to do their work on the computer just like the younger grades do. It will grade it for me too, and put it all into a grade book.

This is the only math program that my daughter has ever liked. We have never been able to afford it though.

We were so blessed that her grandma got this for her.

Another program that we were blessed with was Diana Waring's Romans, Reformers, Revolutionaries.

My husband's cousin actually gave us this program. Everything was included except for the music CD that goes along with it. It is optional, but I went ahead and ordered it because I thought it would really be nice to have.
I can't wait to really dig into this program, as it is written in more of a unit study format. I am really curious as to if this will work for us. I think it will, but we'll see. lol

We are using Homeschool in the Woods timeline notebook and figures to go along with RRR.

Also for history this year we will be using The Light and the Glory for Children.

The Light and the Glory for Children : Discovering God's Plan for America from Christopher Columbus to George Washington

I will be using this with both of my kids. To make it suit my younger child I will be using The Light and the Glory Activity Book for younger children.

Light and the Glory Children's Activity Book, The [Book]

This is made for children ages 5-8. This is great! They can color and listen while you are reading to the older ones.

For science this year we are actually using two sources.

The first we are using is Apologia's Anatomy and Physiology.

Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology -
        By: Jeannie Fulbright

I did not get the Notebooking Journal that goes along with this because it seems like it is better suited for the younger students.

The other source we are using for science this year is Building Blocks in Life Science.

Building Blocks in Life Science

This is a high school level science. My daughter is entering high school this year, but she still really enjoys Apologia's elementary series. So we are doing both! HA

We are also going through Nutrition 101: Choose life! this year. This is also a science, but it is also health. (AND MUCH MORE!)

Photobucket

I reviewed this last year in e-book form, and loved it so much that I bought it in physical book form. My husband actually bought it for me for mothers day.

One of our favorite school subjects is writing. Now, it didn't use to be that way until we found IEW's Student Writing Intensive

We love, love, love this program. It has changed everything for us, as far as writing is concerned.

Since I already wrote a review on this program, I will just give you that link instead of re-writing it all.  You can find my review here.

We are using another IEW product for spelling called The Phonetic Zoo. We are using the budget package. This is the same program, but without the audio CD's.
I don't mind reading my daughter her spelling words.

Spelling has always been something my daughter has struggled with. This program is so easy on us both, and has really made a huge difference. I highly recommend this program if you have a struggling speller.

This one set will take you from elementary to high school.

For Art we will be using two programs. We will be finishing up Drawing Basics with Thomas Kinkade by Alpha Omega. (The only thing I liked from AO. lol)

Drawing Basics with Thomas Kinkade--DVD Curriculum -
        By: Thomas Kinkade

This is great. We really like it. It teaches you how to draw. The other art program we are using does not teach you how to draw. It teaches you how to make your drawing better.

That would be Artistic Pursuits.

My daughter loves Artistic Pursuits.

We use Editor in Chief from the Critical Thinking Company to keep up on Grammar.

Editor in Chief

I think that is about it. She is going to try to add in some lapbooks, and extra fun stuff this year, but this is the main idea.

We won't do everything, everyday, of course. I will try to get a schedule put together and share it with you soon.

Thanks for checking out what we are using this year!

Looks like you're going to have an awesome year! The Bible curriculum looks great. It's on my list of possibilities for next year now.
