WATERPROOF BIBLE

I have never heard of a waterproof book, much less a waterproof Bible! I received a waterproof Bible from Bardin and Marsee Publishing to try out and review. I received an ESV New Testament copy to review.

I had a really hard time putting this review to the test. It is a BIBLE afer all!! I didn't want to try to soak it, or rip it, or get it all dirty, but the publishers say it can handle it, so test we did.

My kids had a blast with this. We dunked it under the water in the bath tub, we wrang it out, let it dry, and did it over and over again.

I couldn't believe it! The Bible returned to Normal every time.

These Bibles are 100% waterproof inside and out. They are made with 100% synthetic materials.

I took the following paragraphs from the website so that you can get an idea of the company.

The Waterproof Bible and THE OUTDOOR BIBLE originate from our desire to take God's word into all of His creation, regardless of the weather or circumstances. That is why they are completely waterproof, dry quickly, are much stronger than paper, are usable with writing utensils (ball point pen, pencil, or dry highlighter), and adapt well to all extremes or reading environments (on a rainy campout, in a coffee shop, even in a hot tub!). Just as a frog lives on land and in water, the Waterproof Bible and THE OUTDOOR BIBLE thrive in any situation or climate.

As believers in Jesus Christ and a love to be in God's creation and exposed to the elements, we have often desired to have a Bible by our side for reading here and there. Our exploring has led us to mountain tops, river banks, sandy beaches, misty valleys, dark caves, and hot springs, and has caused us to become soaked to the core while backpacking or paddling. I hate to admit that our Bible has not made it with us on many of these occasions for the sake of protecting it and because we don't trust a plastic bag not to puncture. Now we can put an end to all the worrying that we have done in the past about our Bibles and take God's Word wherever our adventures lead.

Wherever life takes you - carry the Waterproof Bible or THE OUTDOOR BIBLE and Be Inspired. Anywhere.

Your Friends,

Bobby and Anna

You can take these Bibles anywhere. You can get them wet and muddy and it will go back to perfect condition. These Bible pages will not rip either. I tried to rip a page and it didn't rip. All it did was stretch a little.

I highly encourage everyone to get one of these Bibles. I encourage you to get everyone in your family one.

The prices range from $24.95 for the New Testaments to $44.95 for the full version.

*Sorry that I don't have any pictures. I will try to add pictures once I can find my camera cord. lol*

Spanish for You!

I recently received a Spanish program to review called Spanish for You. My daughter is in high school, and this program is for elementary and middle school, but we have never really done any Spanish programs before, so we thought we would try it out.

Spanish for you is one of those curriculum's that can be used with many grade levels at once. All of your children are learning the same content, but they each have their own worksheets that correspond to their grade level. So if you have children of multiple ages, this program would be a great one to try.

You can choose from two programs:

This package theme is Celebrations.

This package theme is Seasons.

ALL Spanish for You! packages come complete with:
  • soft cover book or e-book (currently only our trial pkgs.)
  • 24-30 week lesson guide for the grades you need (24 weeks for G5-6 & 7-8, 30 weeks for G3-4) (PDF download)
  • self-checking worksheets (PDF download)
  • audio files of entire book (includes bonus audio of native speaker of entire book) (MP3 download)
  • flashcard/activity pictures (PDF download)
  • *Teacher lesson plans are NOT included. These need to be purchased separately. Please visit our CLASS USE page for important information on using Spanish for You! with classes.
When we received our downloads, we set out to try this program. I must admit that we tried it a few different times, and became so frustrated with the program that we stopped, and tried again later. The reason for this was that the downloads were not organized in a manner that made it easy to find what you needed for each lesson. The grade levels were mixed and I had a hard time finding the correct lessons to the corresponding ebook lessons.

BUT....The company listened to the reviewers and changed this problem PRONTO!!! So that is no longer an issue. The reason I am mentioning it at all is that we did have trouble putting it all together for a while, so I don't think we got the most use out if it, or was able to use it as much as I would have liked to before posting a review. . Now that everything is fixed, it should be no problem to use.

My daughters thoughts: "I think this program is a good program, and effective. I do think that it is more geared to the younger grade levels. I think that it is a great program for elementary, but middle schoolers might think it is a little childish."

Her reason for this is because of the flashcards, and the way the program looks. However, she did think it was an effective program.

I think now that the program is better organized, it would be a great program to use in a household with multiple children of different ages.

You can find this program here. You can purchase each program for $64.95 for all the grade levels. (3-8) OR, you can purchase individual grade levels for $39.95 apiece.

Apologia Ultimate Planners - Truly Are the Ultimate in Planners!!

Most of you already know about Apologia, and know that all of their products are totally awesome! The new Ultimate Planners are no exception. As for planners themselves, this IS THE BEST planner I have ever seen.

I have gone through many planners in my time and have never actually stuck with one for more than a few weeks. This planner has so many things going for it. First of all it is beautiful.

This planner comes in two different designs for you to choose from. I like that option. I chose the first one. It is even more beautiful in person. It has a lot of purple, which is my favorite color!!

Besides being beautiful, it's more than just a homeschool planner. It has a place for you to track character goals as well as academic goals, resource lists, a one year planning grid, monthly and weekly planning pages as well. It has plenty of room to write down all of your academic lessons, plus tons of room for extra notes. This can be your all around planner, date book, everything.

One of my favorite parts of this planner is that it is also a grade book. I don't have to keep two separate books! I also love that it has a place for you to keep track of everything your students are reading, or plan on reading.

I am very honest in my reviews, and I wouldn't say that I loved a product if I didn't. I love this product!
It is just so beautiful, and well laid out, and it just plain makes sense. If you have used many planners before, you know what I mean by this.

Besides the Ultimate Planner, I also received a student planner.

I received the Student Planner for Teens. This is pretty much a smaller version of the Ultimate Planner. Your child can write down all of his/her assignments in their own planner and keep track of what they need to do, and what they have finished. It even has a place every day to keep track of how many minutes/hours were spent on each subject.

I will say this...If you can only afford one planner, get the Ultimate Planner. Your kids can just look at it for their assignments, but if you can, get both. MY daughter likes having her own planner. She likes the fact that it is smaller, and she loves the All About Me section in the front. She can write down her favorite, books, bands, movies, etc..

I like that at the top of each weeks schedule it has an SAT word for them to learn. It also has a place for grades and reading lists.

Some really, really neat features of this planner are:

Credit Tracker
High School Records
Guide to Punctuation, Italics, and Capitalization
Fractions, Decimals, Percent Equivalency Chart---Totally Awesome!
Periodic Table Chart
Measurement Equivalency Chart
Algebra and Physics Review Charts
Maps and History Timelines
And More......

I highly recommend getting this planner along with the Ultimate Planner.

The cost of The Ultimate Planner is $28.

The cost of the Student Planners are $19.

I can honestly say that I can not see myself ever using another planner again. I will be sticking with this one...

So many things....

There has ben a lot of changes in my life over the last year and a half, but I am finally seeing a lot of good coming from it. I really need to sit down and take the time to make some posts, and I will soon.

But for those of you praying for me and my family, know that I appreciate it, and keep praying for us.
We are going to have to make some more changes, but I think they will all be for the better.

We Choose Virtues

I recently reviewed a couple of items from We Choose Virtues. I received a set of Virtue cards, a sample parenting card, and some down loadable products.

The first thing we did was fill out the Family Character Assessment.

This form helps you and your children see what character qualities you need to work on the most.
After you each decide what to work on you can pick that card from the virtue cards.

You can stick these on the fridge, or in a spot that will help your children remember what they are working on.

This is a very simple concept, but it works. I have been trying to work with my kids for a long time on their character, and after we received this, all I had to do was say, remember what we're working on?? AND IT WORKED!!!

There are many kits available for purchase, but there are two that I would recommend the most.

The Homeschool Kit $98.99

And The Family Kit $69.99

Of course you can also purchase their products individually.

In the packages you also receive coloring sheets that your child can color the coordinating character quality that they are working on. I think that is pretty cool.

I recommend that you check out the website and see what they have to offer.

If you decide to purchase the Homeschool Kit you can use the coupon code HOME 20 through the month of April and receive 20% off your purchase. If you would like to purchase any of their other products you may use the coupon code VIRTUE15 for 15% off your purchase.

Parenting Help???? In need of....

I need some help. Ever since the divorce, my kids constanly argure with me, and with eachother. Now, they argued before, but it just seems to be their favorite thing to do now.

My eight year old son thinks my daughter doesn't love or like him because she doesn't want to play with him, and she is not patient and treats him like a little pest.

My 15 year old daughter thinks that her brother is the most annoying thing in the world.

Problem is my son does things on purpose to annoy his sister, but he does it because he feels like she doesn't like him. My daughter doesn't like to be around her brother because of what he does. Neither of them realize that if the other would just change a little, the other would respond.

If my daughter were to be more patient and loving, my son wouldn't want to annoy her so much. GRRR.

It is all day long. I can't take it anymore. I need practical advice on how to keep my son from annoying my daughter on purpose, and how to get my daughter to be more loving, kind and patient.

THANK YOU!!!

Having to Wait....

Well, looks like I am going to have to wait until September to start school. I can't manage to pay for bankruptcy and school at the same time.

So I am going to get the bankruptcy out of the way, and then will start school in September. It sucks having to wait, but at least I have a plan...

Back to School....For me!!!

As most of you know, my life has changed pretty dramatically over the last year and a half. I have gone through a divorce, not my choice, and moved into my own place. I have been woking a part time, minimum wage job for the last six months. And while it has been good for me, and has given me time to still homeschool my children, it is just not enough money to live on.

So, I have been thinking a lot about this and have decided to get my AUA in nursing. This will allow me to make quite a bit more money, and still allow me to homeschool my children. The AUA doesnt take that long to get, so I can get into a higher paying job fairly fast, and I can work three 12 hour shifts on weekends, while the kids are at their dads, and still have the whole week to be home with them and homeschool!

I am really happy with this decision, and extremely happy that I found something that will pay me well, and allow me time to homeschool.

At first I was planning on getting my CNA, but when I went to talk about getting my CNA I found out about the AUA. It is MUCH more what I was wanting to do, and pays better!! lol

Anyways, I have a plan. Now to start putting it into action....

Blog Planner Review

As most of you know, I used to review products regularly. I loved it, but unfortunately I had to stop doing so for a while. Now, I have the opportunity to start reviewing again! This time I am reviewing for Mosaic Reviews.

My first item up for review is a blog planner. Now, I have never used a blog planner before, and honestly, never even heard of one before. lol.

I got to choose from a list of blog planners and the one I chose was My Blog Planner, created by Confessions of a Homeschooler. The reason I chose this particular blog planner was that I loved the fact that it was so simple, and so beautiful. It has only what you would need for blog planning and nothing more. It is UNcomplicated.

There are two versions of this Blog Planner.

The first option is the Calander Style Layout.

What’s Included?
  • A Year at a Glance
  • Calendar Style Post layout: Each calendar day includes a check box for if the post is scheduled, if it’s a review/giveaway, and if you’ve shared it with the popular social media of the day; fb, tw, G+, Pin.
  • A Blog Notes Page: This page has room for giveaway and review vendor information, post ideas, and a place to track monthly statistics.

The second option is the Lined Format.

What’s Included?
  • A Year at a Glance
  • Lined Style Post layout: Each day includes a check box for if the post is scheduled, if it’s a review/giveaway, if you’ve selected a winner, and if you’ve shared it with the popular social media of the day; fb, tw, G+, Pin.
  • A Blog Notes Page: This page has room for giveaway and review vendor information and post ideas.
This is the option I chose. It just made more sense to me. It seems a whole lot simpler to have things written in lines instead of boxes. But that may just be me. Everyone likes to organize things differently. That's another great reason that she has created two versions!

So, what can you do with a blog planner. Well, if your like me, you are probably always thinking of things to blog about, and telling yourself to remember to write about them, but you inevitably end up forgetting. Now, you can go to your planner when you have an idea and jot it down real fast. You can keep track of what topics you want to write about on what days, and if you write reviews, or host giveaways, you can keep track of that too!

Now, because I like to be totally honest, I have to admit that I haven't printed this out yet, but I will as soon as I get ink for my printer. Which, brings me to a thought I had. An interactive version of this would be great! I would love to be able to just go to my computer and type my thoughts in, instead of having to print it out. But, I also have to say that this planner is so beautiful that I do want to get it all printed and bound so I can see it everyday. This is what it would look like bound and printed.

I feel confident in recommending this blog planner. I think it would be a perfect fit for most people.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention one of the best things about this blog planner. It's free!!! So be sure to check it out.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with Confessions of a Homeschooler or not, but I have been a fan of hers for a long time, and I encourage you to check out her website to see what all she has to offer. You'll find preschool curriculum, art crafts, recipies and more. If you have a preschooler, you must check out her website. It is chock full of resources.

MOVING on

Well, me and the children have moved into our own place. I actually really like it. We are still unpacking, so it is a disaster zone, but we are getting there. I am trying to make this place a home for me and the kids. Currently, this is the only home they have. Their father is renting out a room in an apartment, so he can't take the kids there. He says it is only temporary until he can get back on his feet. I hope so. I want the kids to be able to have a place to go to with their dad.

He and I are actually getting along pretty well now. Ironically, he tries harder now to "have a good relationship", than he ever did when we were married. He even told me the other day that he realized that the divorce was a mistake. As much as that makes me feel better that he finally realizes it was a mistake, and NOT the right thing to do, it just seems too late.

I don't know what may happen in the future, but right now, we are both trying to deal with what life has dealt us. And that is really tough at times. I have to let the kids go visit him on certain days and that means I don't get to see them. I miss them like crazy, and now I also have to work. For fifteen years I have been a stay at home, homeschool mom. Now my life is drastically different. I am trying to take life one day at a time. It's the only way I can get through.

Well, I hope to start blogging again on a regular basis, and getting to know some of my new followers! Night for now.
